Biography

Mikkel E. G. Nielsen is a Danish film editor. He was born on 19 July 1973 in Aarhus and graduated as an editor from the National Film School of Denmark in 2001.

Nielsen has edited numerous Danish and international features. His credits include A Royal Affair (2012), Beasts of No Nation (2015), Sound of Metal (2020), Land (2021), The Banshees of Inisherin (2022) and Lee (2024).

For Sound of Metal he won the Academy Award for Best Film Editing in 2021, becoming the first Danish editor to receive the honour, and also won a BAFTA. He received a further Oscar nomination for The Banshees of Inisherin.
