Biography

Oleg Negin (born 2 July 1970) is a Russian screenwriter and novelist. He was born in Moscow.

Negin published two novels in 2004, P. Ushkin and Cypress in the Backyard. He began collaborating with director Andrey Zvyagintsev in 2005 and co-wrote the screenplays for The Banishment (2007), Elena (2011), Leviathan (2014) and Loveless (2017).

Their work on Leviathan received the Best Screenplay Award at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. Negin and Zvyagintsev were nominated for the European Film Award for Best Screenwriter for Loveless. In 2010 they received the Sundance Institute/NHK Award for the Elena script, and Negin was invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2018.
