Biography

Otto Bathurst is a British television and film director. Born on 18 January 1971 in London, he began studying engineering before dropping out to work in film. He directed episodes of series including Urban Gothic, Teachers and Hustle early in his career.

Bathurst directed the first episode of the anthology series Black Mirror in 2011. He is known for directing episodes of Peaky Blinders (2013), for which he won a BAFTA, His Dark Materials (2019), Halo (2022) and Billy the Kid (2022). His feature film directorial debut was Robin Hood (2018). He has also directed The Winter King (2023) and Lockerbie: A Search for Truth (2025).

Bathurst has served as executive producer on several projects and has taught filmmaking at Oxford and London universities.
