Biography

Patrizia von Brandenstein is an American production designer. Born in Arizona in 1943, she trained in Europe and began her career in the New York off-Broadway scene and at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco, where she worked on costumes and sets.

She moved into film production design in the late 1970s. Her credits include Amadeus (1984), for which she won the Academy Award for Best Production Design, Ragtime (1981) and The Untouchables (1987), both nominated for the same award, as well as A Simple Plan (1998), Man on the Moon (1999) and Limitless (2011). She has also designed for television, including the series Julia.
