Biography

Peter Blauner (born 29 October 1959) is an American author, journalist and television writer. He began his career in journalism, writing for New York magazine in the 1980s after earlier roles at the Newark Star-Ledger and the Norwich Bulletin. He later transitioned to fiction, drawing on his reporting experiences for his novels.

Blauner has published nine novels, including Slow Motion Riot (1991), which won the Edgar Allan Poe Award for Best First Novel. Other works include The Intruder (1996), The Last Good Day (2003) and Picture in the Sand (2023). Stephen King has cited two of his novels on recommended reading lists.

In television, Blauner has written for several series in the Law & Order franchise. He served as co-executive producer and writer on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, including its 300th episode, and worked as co-executive producer on Blue Bloods from 2015 to 2018. He has also contributed to Law & Order: Criminal Intent and the original Law & Order series.
