Biography
Philippe Volter (23 March 1959 – 13 April 2005) was a Belgian actor. Born Philippe Wolter in Uccle to theatre director Claude Volter and actress Jacqueline Bir, he began his career in Brussels in 1985.
He made stage and film appearances including Macbeth (1987), The Music Teacher (1988), Cyrano de Bergerac (1990) as the Viscount of Valvert, The Double Life of Véronique (1991) as Alexandre Fabbri and Three Colors: Blue (1993) as the real estate agent. Other credits include The Five Senses (1999) and the miniseries Napoleon (2002) as Paul Barras.
After his father’s death in 2002 he returned to Belgium as artistic director of the Comedy Claude Volter company. He died in France in 2005.
