Biography
Pierre Coffin is a French animator, director, writer and voice actor. Born Pierre-Louis Padang Coffin on 16 March 1967 in France, he trained at the Gobelins school in Paris and began his career at Amblimation in London, working on the 1993 film We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story. He later worked at Ex Machina and Mac Guff, created the television series Pat & Stan, and directed commercials and short films.
Coffin co-directed Despicable Me (2010) and Despicable Me 2 (2013) with Chris Renaud, Despicable Me 3 (2017) and Minions (2015) with Kyle Balda. He directed and co-wrote Minions & Monsters (2026) with Brian Lynch, his first solo feature in the franchise, and voices the Minions across the series, including Despicable Me 4 (2024). He received an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Feature for Despicable Me 2.
