Biography
Rade Šerbedžija is a Croatian actor, director and musician. Born on 27 July 1946 in Bunić, Croatia, then part of Yugoslavia, he graduated from the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb. He began his career in theatre and became one of the most prominent Yugoslav actors in the 1970s and 1980s, appearing in numerous stage and film productions.
Following the breakup of Yugoslavia, Šerbedžija moved abroad and gained international recognition for supporting roles in films including Eyes Wide Shut (1999) as Milich, Snatch (2000) as Boris the Blade, Mission: Impossible II (2000), Batman Begins (2005), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 (2010) as Mykew Gregorovitch, and X-Men: First Class (2011). He also had a recurring role in the television series 24. He is a four-time recipient of the Golden Arena for Best Actor and won the Critics Award for Best Actor at the Venice Film Festival for his performance in Before the Rain (1994).
