Biography
Ranald Ian Mackenzie Graham (3 January 1941 – 29 August 2010) was a Scottish writer, director and producer. Born to Scottish parents in Sandakan, North Borneo, he spent part of his early childhood interned in a Japanese prisoner-of-war camp in Kuching during the Second World War. He was educated at Gordonstoun, read English at Trinity College, Dublin, and took an MA in contemporary literature at the University of Birmingham.
Graham wrote six episodes of the ITV series The Sweeney (1975–78) and the screenplay for its 1977 feature-film spin-off Sweeney!. He contributed five episodes to The Professionals (1978–82) and wrote the screenplay for the Hammer House of Horror episode "The Two Faces of Evil" (1980). He created and wrote for the series Dempsey and Makepeace (1985–86), for which he also served as producer. Other credits include the screenplay for Shanks (1974) and producing the series Yellowthread Street (1990).
