Biography

Raymond Cruz is an American actor born on 10 September 1964 in East Los Angeles, California. Of Mexican descent, he grew up in the area and attended East Los Angeles College.

He began acting in the late 1980s and appeared as a store clerk in the 1991 film Dead Again. Cruz has played military and law-enforcement characters in films including Clear and Present Danger (1994), The Rock (1996), Alien Resurrection (1997) and Training Day (2001).

On television he is known for the role of Detective Julio Sanchez in The Closer (2005–2012) and its spin-off Major Crimes (2012–2018), and as Tuco Salamanca in Breaking Bad (2008–2009) and Better Call Saul (2015–2016). He is married to actress Simi Mehta.
