Biography
Rebecca O'Brien is a British film producer. Born on 25 October 1957 in London, she began her career in theatre and children's television before working in production roles, including as location manager on My Beautiful Laundrette (1985).
She has been the producer on most of Ken Loach's feature films since Land and Freedom (1995), including The Wind That Shakes the Barley (2006), I, Daniel Blake (2016), Sorry We Missed You (2019) and The Old Oak (2023). With Loach and screenwriter Paul Laverty she runs the production company Sixteen Films, founded in 2002. Her other credits include co-producer on Bean (1997) and producer on You Were Never Really Here (2017).
O'Brien has received two Palme d'Or awards at the Cannes Film Festival, for The Wind That Shakes the Barley and I, Daniel Blake. She shared a BAFTA Award for Outstanding British Film for I, Daniel Blake.
