Biography

Richard Coyle is an English actor. He trained at the University of York and Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, beginning his career with small television and film roles before gaining prominence as Jeff Murdock in the BBC sitcom Coupling (2000–2002).

He has appeared in films including Human Traffic (1999), The Libertine (2004), A Good Year (2006), Grabbers (2012) and Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore (2022), in which he played Aberforth Dumbledore. On television he is known for the role of Father Faustus Blackwood in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (2018–2020) and Dr O’Donnell in The Fall (2013). Coyle has an extensive stage career, with West End and Broadway credits including Proof, After Miss Julie, Ink and To Kill a Mockingbird.

In 2026 he plays Mr. Gardiner in the BBC and BritBox series The Other Bennet Sister.
