Biography
Richard Durden is an English actor. Born Mark Richard Durden-Smith on 8 February 1944 in Hendon, Middlesex, he was educated at Haileybury and Imperial Service College and Merton College, Oxford, where he joined the Experimental Theatre Club.
He has appeared on the London stage since 1968 and was a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company, playing roles including Claudio in Much Ado About Nothing, the Duke of Albany in King Lear and Malvolio in Twelfth Night. His screen credits include the TV Director in Batman (1989), Ambassador Bennington in From Paris with Love (2010), a First Order Officer in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019), Lord Greer in Bridgerton (2020) and Doctor in the series The Change (2023). He has also appeared in Ghosts (2019–2023) as Charles Worthing and The Jacket (2005) as Dr Hale.
