Biography
Robert Guy Barrows (9 February 1926 – 31 January 2008) was an American television writer. He contributed episodes to numerous series in the 1960s and early 1970s, including The Fugitive (1965), Mission: Impossible (1967), The Green Hornet (1966–1967), The Virginian (1967), Daniel Boone (1967) and Bonanza (1967). He frequently collaborated on scripts with his second wife, Judith Barrows.
Barrows was born in Fort Collins, Colorado. After serving in the US Army during the Second World War, he studied at the University of Colorado and UCLA, later teaching playwriting and theatre arts at New York University and UCLA. He also produced the controversial 1968 Los Angeles staging of Michael McClure’s play The Beard, which led to repeated arrests and a landmark free-speech case. His television output declined after Judith’s death in 1970.
