Biography

Robert Prosky (born Robert Joseph Porzuczek; 13 December 1930 – 8 December 2008) was an American actor. He spent 23 seasons as a resident actor at Arena Stage in Washington, D.C., appearing in more than 130 roles on stage before moving into film and television.

He became a familiar supporting actor in the 1980s and 1990s. His film credits include Thief (1981), Christine (1983), The Natural (1984), Broadcast News (1987), Mrs. Doubtfire (1993) as Mr. Lundy, Dead Man Walking (1995) as Hilton Barber, Gremlins 2: The New Batch (1990) and Miracle on 34th Street (1994). On television he played Sgt. Stan Jablonski on Hill Street Blues (1984–1987). He received Tony Award nominations for Broadway roles in Glengarry Glen Ross (1984) and A Walk in the Woods (1988).
