Biography
Robert Shaye is an American film producer, director and actor. He founded New Line Cinema in 1967, initially distributing films to colleges before expanding into production and distribution. He produced A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) and several of its sequels.
Shaye served as executive producer on The Lord of the Rings trilogy (2001–2003). He has also directed Book of Love (1991) and The Last Mimzy (2007), and appeared in small roles in films including the original A Nightmare on Elm Street. He trained at the University of Michigan and Columbia Law School, and is the brother of actress Lin Shaye.
