Biography
Robert Smigel is an American actor, comedian, writer, director, producer and puppeteer. He was born on 7 February 1960 in New York City and graduated from New York University in 1983.
He is known for his work on Saturday Night Live, where he created the TV Funhouse cartoon shorts, and for voicing and puppeteering Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, which originated on Late Night with Conan O'Brien. Smigel has collaborated frequently with Adam Sandler, co-writing the first two Hotel Transylvania films (2012, 2015) and You Don't Mess with the Zohan (2008).
His acting credits include roles in Happy Gilmore (1996), Punch-Drunk Love (2002) as Walter the Dentist, Pixels (2015), Marriage Story (2019) and several other Sandler projects. He has won three Primetime Emmy Awards.
