Biography
Robert Stigwood (1934–2016) was an Australian film and music producer and impresario. Born in Port Pirie, South Australia, he moved to the United Kingdom in 1955 and built a career managing musicians including the Bee Gees and Cream, as well as producing stage musicals such as Hair and Jesus Christ Superstar.
He produced several notable films, including Tommy (1975), Saturday Night Fever (1977), Grease (1978), Gallipoli (1981) and Evita (1996). In 1980 he formed the film company Associated R&R Films with Rupert Murdoch, which backed Gallipoli as its first and only production.
