Biography
Rosalie Crutchley (4 January 1920 – 28 July 1997) was an English actress. Trained at the Royal Academy of Music, she made her stage debut in 1932 and her screen debut in 1947 in Take My Life. She maintained a long career across theatre, film and television.
Her film roles include Sister Eleanor in The Nun's Story (1959), Mrs. Leivers in Sons and Lovers (1960), Acte in Quo Vadis (1951) and Mrs. Dudley in The Haunting (1963). On television she played Catherine Parr in The Six Wives of Henry VIII (1970) and the sequel Elizabeth R (1971), and Lucy Bellringer in Midsomer Murders (1997). She received the Guild of Television Award for Best Actress in 1956 and an International Television Award for The Six Wives of Henry VIII.
