Biography
Russ Woody is an American television writer and producer. He graduated from California State University, Chico in 1979 with a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism and a minor in speech and drama. He began his writing career in the early 1980s, selling scripts to series including Benson and Webster before joining MTM Enterprises, where he wrote episodes of Newhart, St. Elsewhere (1982) and Hill Street Blues (1981).
Woody later worked as a writer and producer on Murphy Brown (1988), earning a Primetime Emmy Award as part of the writing team in 1990. His other credits include Mad About You, The Drew Carey Show, Becker, The Middle and Haters Back Off. He received a Golden Globe Award for his work on Cybill.
