Biography

Sid Haig was an American character actor whose career spanned six decades. Born Sidney Eddie Mosesian in Fresno, California, he trained at the Pasadena Playhouse and began acting in the 1960s after early work as a drummer. He appeared frequently in films directed by Jack Hill, including Spider Baby (1967), and in blaxploitation pictures such as Coffy (1973) and Foxy Brown (1974). Other credits include THX 1138 (1971) and Diamonds Are Forever (1971), as well as numerous television series.

Quentin Tarantino wrote the role of the judge specifically for Haig in Jackie Brown (1997). He later gained a cult following for portraying Captain Spaulding in Rob Zombie’s House of 1000 Corpses (2003), The Devil’s Rejects (2005) and 3 from Hell (2019). Haig died on 21 September 2019.
