Biography
Simon Jones is an English actor born on 27 July 1950 in Charlton Park, Wiltshire. He studied at King's College, Taunton, and Trinity Hall, Cambridge, where he was a member of the Footlights dramatic club.
He originated the role of Arthur Dent in Douglas Adams's The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy radio series (1978) and television adaptation (1981). Jones appeared in Monty Python's The Meaning of Life (1983) as Chadwick and Jeremy Portland-Smythe. His other screen credits include Brazil (1985), Twelve Monkeys (1995), Miracle on 34th Street (1994) as Shellhammer, and Downton Abbey (2019) as King George V. He has also performed extensively on stage, including numerous Broadway productions.
