Biography
Steve Speirs (born Steven Roberts) is a Welsh actor and writer. He was born on 22 February 1965 in Troed-y-rhiw, Merthyr Tydfil, Wales. He trained with the National Youth Theatre of Wales and studied drama at Loughborough University, taking his professional surname from a college lecturer.
Speirs has appeared in films including Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace (1999) as Captain Tarpals, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (2006), Eragon (2006) as Sloan, Inkheart (2008) and Burke & Hare (2010). On television he is known for roles in Extras (2005) as Dullard, Doctor Who (2005) and Inside No. 9 (2014). He wrote and starred in the 2008 film Caught in the Act.
In Cemetery Junction (2010) he played Sgt. Wyn Davies, a role written for him by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant. Other credits include Big School (2013–2014) and Stella (2012–2015).
