Biography

Stuart Beattie is an Australian screenwriter, film director and producer. He was born on 4 August 1971 in Melbourne and raised in Sydney, where he attended Knox Grammar School before studying at Charles Sturt University in Bathurst.

Beattie wrote the screenplay for Collateral (2004), which earned nominations for the BAFTA Award for Best Original Screenplay, the Satellite Award for Best Original Screenplay and the Saturn Award for Best Writing. His other credits include the story for Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003) and screenplays for 30 Days of Night (2007), Australia (2008) and G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (2009). He has also directed films such as Tomorrow, When the War Began (2010) and written episodes for the series Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022).
