Biography
Vera Santamaria is a Canadian television writer and producer. Born and raised in Toronto, she studied at Toronto Metropolitan University and began her career writing for Canadian series including Degrassi: The Next Generation and Little Mosque on the Prairie. She co-created and executive produced How to Be Indie (2009).
She later moved to the United States, where her credits include writing episodes of Community (2009) and BoJack Horseman (2014), as well as work on PEN15 (2019), for which she served as executive producer and co-showrunner on the second season and received an Emmy nomination. Other credits include Orange Is the New Black, Schitt's Creek, Playing House, Ms. Marvel and Roar (2022). She is co-showrunner and executive producer of How to Die Alone (2024).
