Biography
Vernon Downing (1913–1973) was a British actor who appeared in numerous Hollywood films between 1934 and 1954, often in supporting or uncredited roles as English characters.
He made his screen debut in 1934 with parts in Treasure Island and The Barretts of Wimpole Street, in which he played Octavius Barrett. Other credits include Mutiny on the Bounty (1935), Les Misérables (1935), Wuthering Heights (1939), Pride and Prejudice (1940), Suspicion (1941), The Spider Woman (1943) and The Three Musketeers (1948). He also appeared on Broadway in the stage version of The Barretts of Wimpole Street in 1931.
