Biography
William Eythe (also credited as William John Eythe) was an American actor who worked in film, radio, television and stage. Born in Mars, Pennsylvania, on 7 April 1918, he studied drama at the Carnegie Institute of Technology before moving to New York, where he appeared in radio dramas and on Broadway in The Moon Is Down.
Spotted by a 20th Century Fox talent scout, he made his screen debut as Gerald Tetley in The Ox-Bow Incident (1943) and played Antoine Nicolau in The Song of Bernadette (1943). He went on to leading roles in The Eve of St. Mark (1944), Wilson (1944) and The House on 92nd Street (1945).
Eythe was married to actress Buff Cobb from 1947 to 1949. He died in Los Angeles on 26 January 1957, aged 38.
