Biography
Albert Brenner (1926–2022) was an American production designer and art director. He graduated from the New York School of Industrial Arts and later studied scenic design at the Yale Drama School. After serving in the US Army Air Force during the Second World War, he worked in theatre, live television and commercials before moving into feature films in the 1960s.
Brenner received five Academy Award nominations for Best Art Direction and was awarded the Art Directors Guild Lifetime Achievement Award in 2003. His credits include Bullitt (1968), The Hustler (1961), The Sunshine Boys (1975), The Turning Point (1977), 2010 (1984), Pretty Woman (1990), Backdraft (1991) and several films directed by Garry Marshall. He also rebuilt the New York Street backlot at Paramount Studios.
