Biography
Alexander von Lagorio (1890–1965) was a German cinematographer and photographer. Born in Warsaw, he worked initially on trick photography and optical effects before becoming a cameraman in the late 1920s, often in partnership with Curt Oertel.
He is known for his contributions to Leni Riefenstahl’s two-part documentary Olympia (1938), filmed at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. Other credits include Der Schimmelreiter (1934), Die Unbekannte (1936) and the colour feature Frauen sind doch bessere Diplomaten (1941), the first full-length German Agfacolor film. He also researched colour film processes and published on the subject.
