Biography

Amelda Brown is a British actress of stage, film and television. She trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, graduating in 1980.

Her stage work includes leading roles in the premieres of Caryl Churchill's Fen (1983) and A Mouthful of Birds (1986), and revivals of Churchill plays at the Royal National Theatre. Film roles include Hope in Hope and Glory (1987), Fanny Dorrit in Little Dorrit (1987), the Wardrobe Mistress in V for Vendetta (2006) and Mrs Cole in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009). Television appearances include parts in Sherlock Holmes (1984), Fleabag (2016) and Call the Midwife (2012).
