Biography
Anders Refn is a Danish film editor and director. Born on 8 April 1944 in Copenhagen, he graduated from the National Film School of Denmark in 1969 and has worked on dozens of features, television series, shorts and documentaries.
Refn edited Breaking the Waves (1996) and Antichrist (2009) for Lars von Trier, and served as assistant director on several of the director’s other films including Dancer in the Dark (2000), Dogville (2003), Melancholia (2011) and Nymphomaniac (2013). He has also edited Max Manus: Man of War (2008) and The Party (2017). In 2004 he received an Honorary Bodil Award for his contributions to Danish cinema. He is married to cinematographer Vibeke Winding and is the father of director Nicolas Winding Refn.
