Biography
Anton M. Leader, also credited as Tony Leader or Anton Leader, was an American radio and television director. He was born on 23 December 1913 in Boston, Massachusetts, and died on 1 July 1988 in Los Angeles, California.
Leader directed radio dramas in New York during the 1940s before moving to Los Angeles in 1948. He subsequently worked as a freelancer for studios including Universal and Columbia Pictures. From the mid-1950s to the mid-1970s he directed episodes of numerous television series, including The Twilight Zone (two episodes, 1960–1961), Perry Mason, Leave It to Beaver, Star Trek, Get Smart, Gilligan's Island, Lost in Space, Hawaii Five-O and Ironside. His feature film credits include the direction of Children of the Damned (1964).
He won a Western Heritage Award in 1965 for an episode of The Virginian. Leader was married to Rosalind Palca.
