Biography
Christian Nyby (1 September 1913 – 17 September 1993) was an American film editor and television and film director. Born in Los Angeles, he began his career in the studios and worked as an editor on seventeen feature films between 1943 and 1952, including The Big Sleep (1946) and Red River (1948).
Nyby received his first directing credit on the science-fiction film The Thing from Another World (1951). He directed four further feature films and, from 1953 to 1975, numerous episodes of television series including The Twilight Zone (1959), Gunsmoke (1955), Bonanza (1959), Perry Mason (1957), The Six Million Dollar Man (1974) and Kojak (1973). He was the father of television director Christian Nyby II.
