Biography
Antônio Pinto, also credited as Antonio Alves Pinto, is a Brazilian film score composer. Born in Rio de Janeiro in 1967, he is the son of cartoonist Ziraldo and brother of filmmaker Daniela Thomas. He spent time in the United States as a teenager, interning with composer Philip Glass.
Pinto began scoring films in the mid-1990s. His early credits include Central Station (1998), composed with Jaques Morelenbaum, and City of God (2002). He has since worked on numerous international productions, including Lord of War (2005), Senna (2010), Amy (2015) and The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind (2019). He has received a World Soundtrack Award, an ASCAP award and a Golden Globe nomination for best original song.
