Biography
Artie Kane (born Aaron Cohen) was an American pianist, composer and conductor. Born in Columbus, Ohio, on 14 April 1929, he began as a studio pianist in Hollywood from 1960, performing on scores by composers including John Williams, Jerry Goldsmith and Henry Mancini. He later composed for television and film, and conducted orchestral sessions.
Kane composed music for numerous television series, including two episodes of The Rockford Files (1974). His other television credits include episodes of Wonder Woman, The Love Boat, Dynasty, Hotel and Matlock. He scored five feature films: The Bat People (1974), Looking for Mr. Goodbar (1977), Eyes of Laura Mars (1978), Night of the Juggler (1980) and Wrong Is Right (1982). From the 1990s he conducted scores for films such as Men in Black (1997), Mission: Impossible (1996) and Good Will Hunting (1997). Kane died on 21 June 2022 at his home on Whidbey Island, Washington.
