Biography
Betty Buckley is an American actress and singer. Born in Big Spring, Texas, she trained at Texas Christian University and made her Broadway debut in the original production of 1776 (1969). She won a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her role as Grizabella in Cats (1982).
Buckley is known for playing Abby Abbott in the television series Eight Is Enough (1977–1981). Her film roles include Miss Collins in Carrie (1976), Dixie in Tender Mercies (1983) and Mrs Jones in The Happening (2008). She received a Saturn Award nomination for her performance in Split (2017). Buckley was inducted into the American Theater Hall of Fame in 2012.
