Biography
Bill Pankow is an American film editor. Born in New York City in 1952, he studied filmmaking at Fordham University and New York University. He began his career as an assistant to editor Gerald B. Greenberg.
Pankow is best known for his extensive collaboration with director Brian De Palma, editing ten of his films from Body Double (1984) onwards. His credits for De Palma include The Untouchables (1987), Carlito's Way (1993), Snake Eyes (1998) and Femme Fatale (2002), for which he won the Seattle Film Critics Award for Best Editing. He has also edited films for Abel Ferrara, Paul Schrader, Jean-François Richet and others.
Pankow is a member of the American Cinema Editors and has taught as an adjunct professor at New York University and Maine Media Workshops.
