Biography
Blanche Sewell was an American film editor. She began her career as a negative cutter before becoming an assistant to editor Viola Lawrence and then a full editor at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in the early 1920s, where she remained until her death.
She edited more than sixty films for the studio, including Grand Hotel (1932), Queen Christina (1934), Treasure Island (1934), The Wizard of Oz (1939), Boom Town (1940) and The Pirate (1948). Sewell was born on 27 October 1898 in Lowe Township, Noble County, Oklahoma, and died on 2 February 1949 in Burbank, California. She was married to Leon Warren Bourgeau from 1938 until her death and is interred at Inglewood Park Cemetery.
