Biography
Bob Yari is an Iranian-born American film producer and director. Born on 30 May 1961 in Tehran, he grew up in New York City and studied film and cinematography at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Yari began his career in the late 1980s, directing and producing the film Mind Games (1989). After a period working in real estate, he returned to film production in the early 2000s. He produced Crash (2005), which won the Academy Award for Best Picture, as well as The Illusionist (2006), The Painted Veil (2006) and Hostage (2005). He has also served as executive producer on television series including Yellowstone (2018–) and its spin-offs.
Yari directed Papa: Hemingway in Cuba (2015). He was involved in a legal dispute with the Producers Guild of America and the Academy over producer credit for Crash.
