Biography

Bruce Boa, also credited as Andrew Bruce Boa, was a Canadian actor. Born in Calgary, Alberta, he graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a degree in theology in 1952 and briefly played professional football for the Calgary Stampeders before moving to England in 1958 to begin his acting career.

He appeared frequently in British film and television, often cast as American military or authority figures. His credits include Bob Slade in the 1962 episode 'Dead on Course' of The Avengers, General Carlist Rieekan in The Empire Strikes Back (1980), the Pogue Colonel in Full Metal Jacket (1987), Mr Harry Hamilton in the Fawlty Towers episode 'Waldorf Salad' (1975), and a US General in Octopussy (1983). Other notable roles were in The Omen (1976), Superman (1978) and Return to Oz (1985).

Boa died in Surrey, England, in 2004.
