Biography
Buck Houghton was an American television producer. Born Archible Ernest Houghton Jr. in Denver, Colorado, he graduated from UCLA with degrees in English and economics. His early career in Hollywood included work as a reader and story editor for David O. Selznick, positions at Paramount and RKO, and service with the Office of War Information during the Second World War.
Houghton produced the first three seasons of the anthology series The Twilight Zone (1959–1962), overseeing more than one hundred episodes. He later produced episodes of series including Yancy Derringer (1958), The Richard Boone Show (1963–1964), The High Chaparral, Harry O and Hawaii Five-O. His feature credits include executive producer on The Wraith (1986). He wrote the book What a Producer Does (1991).
Houghton died in Los Angeles in 1999.
