Biography
Carlos Bernard Papierski is an American actor and director. Born on 12 October 1962 in Evanston, Illinois, he graduated from New Trier High School and earned a bachelor's degree in fine art from Illinois State University. He later received an MFA from the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco.
Bernard is best known for playing Tony Almeida in the series 24 (2001–2006), reprising the role in 24: Solitary (2014) and 24: Legacy (2017). His other acting credits include recurring or guest roles in CSI: Miami (2011–2012), Castle (2013), Supergirl (2015), The Orville (2017) and The Lincoln Lawyer (2022). He began his career in stage productions and appeared regularly on the soap opera The Young and the Restless.
As a director, Bernard has helmed episodes of Law & Order (2022–2025), FBI (2020–), Chicago Fire, Criminal Minds, MacGyver and FBI: Most Wanted. He also wrote and directed the short film Your Father's Daughter.
