Biography
Charles Pearce Coleman (also credited as Charles Coleman and Charles C. Coleman) was an Australian-born character actor who appeared in more than 200 films, most often in uncredited roles as butlers, valets and other manservants.
Born in Sydney, New South Wales, he began his career on the stage, touring in repertory theatre in Australia and the United States before settling in Hollywood in 1923. His screen debut came in the 1915 silent film The Mummy and the Humming Bird. He continued working into the early sound era and appeared in such films as The Gay Divorcee (1934), Captains Courageous (1937), Jane Eyre (1943) and Anchors Aweigh (1945). Coleman died in Woodland Hills, California, in 1951.
