Biography
Charles Knode (1942–2023) was a British costume designer for film, television, stage and music videos. He trained at Wimbledon School of Art and began his career at the BBC, where he designed costumes for the 1972 adaptation of War and Peace.
After leaving the BBC he worked on Monty Python’s Life of Brian (1979) and collaborated extensively with director Ridley Scott. His designs for Blade Runner (1982) earned a BAFTA Award; he received a second BAFTA for Braveheart (1995) and an Oscar nomination for the same film. Other credits include Jabberwocky (1977), Legend (1985), 1492: Conquest of Paradise (1992) and the television film Alice in Wonderland (1999), for which he won an Emmy Award. He also appeared as an extra in several Monty Python productions.
