Biography

Charlie Kaufman is an American screenwriter, director and novelist. He wrote the screenplay for Being John Malkovich (1999), directed by Spike Jonze.

Kaufman began his career as a television writer before gaining recognition for screenplays including Human Nature (2001), Adaptation. (2002) and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004). He later wrote and directed Synecdoche, New York (2008), Anomalisa (2015) and I'm Thinking of Ending Things (2020). He received an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
