Biography
Christopher Reeve was an American actor. He studied at Cornell University and the Juilliard School. His film debut came in Gray Lady Down (1978). He rose to prominence as Superman in Superman (1978) and reprised the role in Superman II (1980), Superman III (1983) and Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (1987). Other film roles include Somewhere in Time (1980), Deathtrap (1982), The Bostonians (1984) and Jack Lewis in The Remains of the Day (1993).
Following a 1995 horseback riding accident that left him quadriplegic, Reeve advocated for spinal cord injury research and disability rights. He founded the Christopher Reeve Foundation and directed the television film In the Gloaming (1997). He also appeared in the television film Rear Window (1998).
