Biography
Dave Porter is an American composer for film and television. He studied both classical and electronic music composition at Sarah Lawrence College and began his professional career as an assistant in Philip Glass's recording studio in New York City. He is based in Los Angeles.
Porter has composed the original scores for all projects by Vince Gilligan, including the series Breaking Bad (2008–2013), its prequel spin-off Better Call Saul (2015–2022) and the film El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie (2019). He has also scored the series The Blacklist (2013–2023) and Pluribus (2025).
He has received ASCAP Composer's Choice Awards for Best Television Composer and a Citation Award from Sarah Lawrence College.
