Biography
Douglas E. Wise, also credited as Doug Wise or Douglas Wise, is an American assistant director and occasional director. He began his career as second assistant director on Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979) and worked as first assistant director on five of the first six Star Trek feature films: Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982), Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986), Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (1989) and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991).
Wise served as first assistant director on numerous other films including The Final Countdown (1980), Grumpy Old Men (1993), The Mighty Ducks (1992) and Kung Pow: Enter the Fist (2002). On television he worked in the same capacity on series such as Babylon 5 (21 episodes, 1996–1998), Freaks and Geeks (1999–2000) and Crusade (1999). He directed one episode of Trapper John, M.D. and the Babylon 5 episode 'The Fall of Centauri Prime' (1998).
He is the nephew of film director Robert Wise.
