Biography

Douglas Ibold, also credited as Doug Ibold, was an American film and television editor. Born Edward Douglas Ibold on 23 January 1940 in Cincinnati, Ohio, he graduated from Florida State University and began his career in local television in Florida before moving to Los Angeles.

He edited episodes of Magnum, P.I. (1980-85), Miami Vice (1985-87), the Law & Order pilot (1990) and other episodes through 1999, Xena: Warrior Princess, and the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit pilot (1999) plus 49 further episodes through 2005. His work included other series such as Tour of Duty and Walker, Texas Ranger.

Ibold received an Emmy nomination for the miniseries Drug Wars: The Cocaine Cartel and served on the board of the American Cinema Editors for about twenty years, receiving the ACE Career Achievement Award in 2012. He died on 8 November 2023 in Woodland Hills, California.
