Biography
Fiona Cumming (9 October 1937 – 1 January 2015) was a Scottish television director. She began her career as an actress, training at the Royal Scottish Academy, before moving into production roles at the BBC in the mid-1960s. She worked as an assistant floor manager and production assistant on several Doctor Who serials during the 1960s and 1970s.
Cumming became a staff director at the BBC in 1974. Her credits included episodes of Z-Cars, Angels, The Omega Factor and Blake's 7. She directed four Doctor Who stories during the Fifth Doctor era: Castrovalva (1982), Snakedance (1983), Enlightenment (1983) and Planet of Fire (1984). She later worked freelance on series including Take the High Road.
